IDEAL Toy Truck Collectible Promotion

The annual IDEAL Toy Truck promotion has run for over ten years, is one of the most anticipated promotions in the electrical industry. 18,000 toy trucks are produced each year and always sell out within the first week of the promotion. IDEAL distributors are required to purchase a specific volume of wire connectors in order to receive a limited edition, die-cast toy truck in a customized package. An end-user component is added to move the wire connectors off the distributor shelves.

In 2005, end users who purchased more than 5,000 wire connectors qualified to win a custom IDEAL Orange County Chopper in the Born To Be Wired Sweepstakes. Five finalists were flown to California where one lucky winner rode home on the grand prize.

A historic location

The historic 333 North Michigan Avenue Building was constructed in 1927 on the site of Fort Dearbon, the first Chicago settlement built in 1803. Fort Dearborn was strategically positioned along the Chicago River making it a prime location for travel and trafficking goods – and now it positions the building in heart of Michigan Avenue.

The first thing you notice is the unmistakable art deco design. It was derived directly from Eero Saarinen’s designs for the Chicago Tribune Tower and his Grant Park skyscraper proposal. A bas-relief frieze by sculptor Enrique Alferez winds around the building, commemorating Chicago’s pioneer past while adding exquisite detailing.
